David was kind enough to send me his plans a year or so ago, and I built his mortise jig and his tenon jig. Both work very well. The only limitation of the mortise jig is the depth of cut. I will have to look into an endmill as Ralph and Cliff suggested.

    Thanks for the plans David.

    Jonathon,

You might consider using the Xtreme Xtension collet extension, available from Amazon, to solve your depth of cut problems. I have only really had depth-of-cut problems with 1/4" bits; but usually it is possible to use a 5/16" spiral bit on a 1/2" shank instead and thus avoid the problem.

Here is a post that has a discussion about routing mortises, and on my post, you can see a photo of a jig that I made that works great. It is cheap to make, accurate, and easy to set up, limited by the length of your bit and travel for your router.

David, I know this posting is somewhat old but thought it was worth asking if the plans for this mortising jig is still available. I'll supply my email address in case it is. And thanks for sharing, much appreciated.
