How to Make a Cutlist with Sketchup

This may be old news but I just found it so I thought I'd share. Copy the attached file to your "plug-ins" folder (at the root of Sketchup) and when you start up Sketchup look at the Plug-ins and you should see a Cutlist option. The way to use it is to select a group of parts (I just select the whole piece) and go to plug-ins/make Cutlist. It creates a list of parts and the sizes. From there, it may be imported into Cutlist. By the way, I did not create this file, someone else did.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out.

Keep in mind that this script works only on components and you must select them for them to be included. It also collects dimensions of the bounding box of the selected components. If you draw a part at an angle and then make it a component, the cutlist entry won't give accurate dimensions. the following text is the cutlist text from the attached image.

    Part #,Description,Length(X),Width(Y),Thickness(Z),Boar d Foot, Material
    1-1, Component#1,~ 36 35/64",~ 33 43/64",4 23/64",37.243,Not assigned
    2-1, Component#2,~ 29 39/64",~ 21 25/32",4 23/64",19.529,Not assigned

    Total Board Foot,56.772

    Not assigned,56.772

And it doesn't seem to work if you have components and/or groups nested in each other. I haven't tested this extensively but that seems to be what's happening in a certain drawing I know about.

Ah, yes. Nest components, too. I guess you could always explode the nests before running the script.

Yeah, it's not perfect but it sure beats the heck out of the way I use to do it.

The link to "get file here" (in reply#1 from Daniel Simon) for the 'cutlist' plugin doesn't work. Do you have another one?

This past thread may provide some additional useful information about using SU and CutlistPlus.

I've found the free cutlist plugin for download in this page

It seems to be there are different versions with more or less features.
