Just picked up a Rockwell 310M laminate trimmer. It looks pretty much the same as the Porter Cable 0310 trimmer. It has the offset base which would probably get used most of the time, but it could be handy to have the regular base too. Is something like this available? Or will it more than double my $65 investment?

Well, I'll just reply to myself (is that healthy?)
I wanted to cut the cord shorter since there were a couple of places where the insulation was damaged, but upon taking the cord off I found that the strain relief is part of the insulation jacket (it was covered in duct tape). Can anybody help me with this? Can I find a separate strain relief and put a new cord on (the ground was removed from the plug). What about the standard base? Do you think the current PC 310 base would fit this one?

Indeed, it is the same router today, known as PC 310.
A 3101 casting will fit that motor, but , to be sure, you will lose your economic advantage if you get one.

Is the strain relief molded on to the cord, or does the cord pass through it? If it is molded on, you'll have to buy a replacement cord. If it is separate, you can buy a cord of the proper gauge and use it, re-using the strain relief.
