Beautiful HF Travis. How much do those weigh? Are they hollowed out really thin? How long do you have to buff a piece like that to get that glass-like finish? I'm very envious. Nice job.
Beautiful form, great looking wood and have to agree that the ebony collar really sets the piece off!
With that small of an final opening - did you finish the inside?
Steve

No comments.... I didn't look! I have made up my mind to stop looking at these because they get me depressed and then I get an inferiority complex!
Just kidding... I couldn't help looking! Another drop dead gorgeous piece. Where do you get all that ebony for those collars? I rarely see gaboon sold ...

Rich, I just weighed it on a digital postal scale and it weighs 10.6 oz. The walls are probably 3/16" or so. Not much sanding I could do through a 1" opening, just carefully finished the inside with a tear drop scraper and sloshed some oil around inside after gluing the collar on.
Jonathon, check eBay for knife scales or cutoffs.
Nailed that one, Travis! That pear has some nice figuring, too.
Great form, wood, and pic. Keep 'em coming!
Another beauty Travis. Love the form and finish. Nice job.

Travis this one is a great work. Love the figure and the finish.

Travis, when are you going to learn to turn something ugly?!!
Seriously that is beautiful, as we've come to anticipate seeing from you.
Love that Bradford Pear... this one looks great and the collar sits on it just right.
Travis....I never tire of viewing the beauty of your turnings! Gorgeous!

So much to learn, so little time.....
Love the form and agree with the ebony collar.
After my first HF try...my respect for you just doubled.

Geez, I hope anything I make out of the pear I scavenged looks half that good.
Where did I put that tape measure...
