I'm going on a business trip to San Diego (from Memphis, TN). Is there any woodworking places I should see while there? I would be espically interested in anywhere I might find some old hand planes. Thanks!

It has nothing to do with woodworking, But you should take the time to go see the Midway Museum. What a slice of History!
Bob,
Don't know of anyplace to find old tools except the twice yearly Old Tool Swap Meet and the yearly PAST Tool Show and Auction.
But, for anything related to woodworking, I'd check out the links on the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association and North County Woodworkers Club web sites;

I was there last June and found an exhibit of Maloof and other creations at a museum in Balboa Park. Park itself is fun to wander around. Maloof's shop/complex including his original house is near Los Angeles; think it was about a 3 hour drive. Interesting but you can't go into the shop itself unfortunately. Hob Nob restaurant is a down home kind of place especially for breakfast and reasonably priced.
If you'll have a car, go to Tropical Exotic Hardwoods in Carlsbad. I think they have a website.
