    Carob Natural Edge Burnt Texture

This is the end section of a Carob log I had. Not sure if it is really a bowl but that is what I am going to call it. The piece is 11 1/2 inches at the widest point and 7 inches at the smallest. The bark fell of so I decorated the rim with a burn stipple effect. The finsh is Watco and it still needs to cure and be rubbed out.

Mike....I really like this piece! It's shape and color give it an artsy feel. The burned stippling on the edge adds to the piece! Well done!

Beautiful piece... I love the shape of that thing! It really looks sort of rustic! Have never seen a NE quite like that!

I love it and am wondering what you use to burn the rim with, with-out burning anything else?????

  6. Very nice, Mike! The burned edge works great on this, IMO. It'll look great on display.

    Thumbs up

Ditto about the burned edge! That's the perfect treatment for that. I think this is my favorite of everything you've posted so far Mike! (It's all been good, but this one especially)

That's a beauty Mike. I'm thinking the burned edge might look even better than the bark would have looked.

    Mike,

Steve Dunn told me to set my Carob out in the sun and it would turn an even darker shade of red. Did you try that with your piece?

Hart beat me to the "catcher's mitt" line! Very artsy feel to that piece. Great job, Mike!

    Mike,

Nice piece and the burned edge was the perfect touch to the piece.
