    DW618 Problem

Today I was routing some small pieces and had the speed set on about 1/2 full (5-6) on the dial all of a sudden the router went to full speed and the evs control had no effect on the speed. I turned it off and let it set for a while and when I went back the router started at full speed instead of the soft start as usual and it sparked at the top of the router housing. I turned it off but as it was winding down a chunking noise came from inside and now the brushes are in little pieces along with a small copper wire that came out of the vents and now it will not start up again.

I have had the router about 9 months and have only used it about 8 times very little use each time.

Okay now that all of the details out have any of you dealt with Dewalt and warranty work? How are they? Turn around time? etc. Thanks for any info that you are willing to share.

    Michael,
Dewalt does a good job with customer service from my experiences. It sounds like your brushes got chewed up and need to be replaced. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
