    Another Red Mallee Burl

Here is the latest one I have completed and they are getting bigger.

This one finished out at 13" x 9" and has more red then any of the others I have turned. The bowl is 6". It has two coats of antique oil, then buffed and then a coat of Renaissance wax applied and buffed.

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

That is really nice!. I just purchased my first mallee burl, and will be attempting my first bowl from it.

That's very impressive! I like the way you offset the bowl to one side but I'll bet it made for some intense turning.

Beautiful bowl Dick! Great looking burl! I also like the way you offset the bowl - highlights the shape of the wood. Very nice work!

Wow! Look at the eyes and the color on that puppy. I'll bet it's even better in person. Aren't these a pain to photograph?

    Beautiful piece!

Dick...I like the subtlety of the "bowl" on this piece...it doesn't detract from the beauty of that burl, but still adds focus and indication that this is a turned project. Bravo!

Well done Dick. Your turning allows the burl to display it's beauty! Joash is gonna whine about this one!

Thanks for the nice comments. This was a challenge to turn as the offset extended it past 8-1/2" off-center and so I had to turn it outboard on the DVR.

It was only a little over 2" in height to start with so I couldn't make a real big bowl out of it. Like Jim said, it was just enough to highlight it as being turned.

Neal you are right, the picture does not show how pretty it really is. I wish all of the burls had this much color in them.

I have a Corrugated burl drying now.
