Lets see the big boy jointers!

    I ordered a DJ30.
I am feeling the need to see some big ships.
Post pics of the aircraft carriers in your life.
Bonus points for pics of DJ30s with a mobile base!!
How do you assemble these machines and even get them on the base??
Glad its my shop I am responsible for - I only have to make me happy.

My jointer is almost a dead ringer for Lou's...

It's also 16" width. Read more about it here: http://www.owwm.com/PhotoIndex/detail.asp?id=2569

Given it's weight, it doesn't get moved much. If it does, this is the mobile base:

    Isn't the DJ30 12 inches?

Yep - just 12". 800+ lbs. Will be the largest tool in the shop for me next to the Deere.

Mike, since it's only 800 lbs , the loader on your lawn tractor should handle that. Use lifting straps under and up from the machine's base then chain to the bucket. Do not lift from the tables.

Looking at that picture, I'm thinking it's going to come to you in two main pieces -- the base cabinet and the actual machine (everything above the "DELTA DJ-30" label in the picture. Put the cabinet on the mobile base. You might be able to just do that manually with a helper. Then lift the machine using the tractor with the lifting straps placed toward the outside of the base (the area that overhangs the cabinet). Should be straight forward.

    Oh, and congrats!

If you look at the manual, the unit comes in one piece. They tell you to use staps or forks under the table brackets. Pretty much the same procedure as the Griz. I could not fine a base for mine, is there one for the delta? I was thinking of mounting mine on 4x4 blocks bolted though the holes used to attach the unit to the skid, then I could at least move the unit with a pallet jack.
Congrats on the buy, you got a deal.

Here's one I picked up late last fall. Waiting for some warm weather to get it cleaned up and installed. 21" spiral head jointer -- a real monster.

    Joel,
It looks like you can actually land aircraft on the table. That is one big momma!

Mike, I could not find a mobil base for the York, since it is only 15" wide and 44" long at the base, so I made my own from the corners of a Shop Fox, then I upgraded casters at 325 lbs each and welded some steel in place. Its mobil now and I raised it only 1 1/4" off the floor...
