Local Saw Mills near South Carolina

Greetings Group,

Perhaps some of the members here have had the opportunity to purchase domestic hardwoods from "Local Saw Mills" and would be willing to share the contact info. with me.

I'm new to SC and have heard rumors about lumber selling for as low as $1.00 a bd.ft for rough sawn Red Aromatic Cedar. I'm currently looking for 2-400 bd.ft of Cherry for several home projects.

I intend to pick up the material myself as compared to shipping, I don't mind a couple of hundred miles one way.

I sure would appreciate any suggestions / leads you folks can provide.

It lists several suppliers of cedar lumber. I have gotten some great cedar from Andy Morris in Pomaria who has an ad in the bulletin.

Hey Jim ... Great Tip! Amazingly I have met Andy Morris and he does indeed offer great Cedar at more than reasonable prices.

I hunted through the SC Farm Bulletin page your link sent me to and I was not able to find a "Misc" section. I'll try againn in a bit, perhaps I simply missed it.

You also want to check out www.woodfinder.com. Just put in your zip code, the distance you want to travel, the wood you want, etc. They don't list everybody that sells wood, they charge to be listed, but do usually come up with enough sources to make it worth while.

I use Roy's in Lugoff. They have always been great people.
Price is questionable.
But would like to know more myself. Bob
