DC duct materials from Oneida

I'm trying to improve my DC system, but cannot find a good local vendor for the duct pieces. My local Borg doesn't have a very good selection, and nobody could tell me the gauge of what they did have (always a bad sign). I was considering just ordering through Oneida, because it would be so easy.

What is the general feeling about Oneida's duct pieces? Quality and worth the price? A little spendy, but convenient? Overpriced--look somewhere else?

Quality is first rate.

You may be able to find slightly better prices but the service from Oneida was very good. You wouldn't be disappointed.

I am redesigning and adding a new run for my system and will be ordering from them again very soon.

I recently ordered a few small parts from Kencraft. I wasn't sure what I wanted/needed but explained what I was doing and they gave me some great suggestions and were very giving with their time on the phone.

Oneida is first-rate quality and the components are heavy duty. They are also a nice company to do business with.

Kencraft is a little more economical and folks do say nice things about them.

I'm surprised you can't at least get straight pipe locally, however...26 guage snap lock is not uncommon at HVAC suppliers (and is even usually available at the 'borg in 24" lengths) and many HVAC suppliers also can produce spiral straight pipe for only a little more than snap lock. It's just the laterals, etc., that you need to source from dust collection specialists since they are oriented "backwards" from HVAC applications.

I used Oneida on my duct work and was very happy. They were higher on some things and lower on some others so it was just easier to get everything from one place so I went with them and it worked out good.

If quality and convenience rate higher than pricing concerns, try using the Nordfab snap-lock duct work available through Oneida. While pricey, it makes installation easy and allows for easy changes down the road and cleanout later should you end up with a clog in the line. You can get product info from both Oneida and Nordfab's website. I downloaded the catalog on the Nordfab site to plan and configure my system. Oneida reviewed my design and arranged for the order.

I purchased my duct from Oneida, starting with a package deal that comes as an option with their cyclones, and then adding on components to flesh out the rest of the shop. The pricing and convenience were a big selling point, but I would rate the quality as only fair. Had I gone with quick fit or spiral I would have paid almost twice as much as I did but, the truth is, the connections required a bit more finessing (cutting, bending, etc.) than I had expected, and the blast-gate to hose connectors are...well...weak. If I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the same cheap duct, get better gates/hose connectors, and skip the little pump thing that allows you to use bags in the dust bin (still haven't gotten the thing to work right).

That said, I still have a very positive opinion of the company in general. I love the new RF remote and I'd take a bullet for my Dust Gorilla

I guess I did it backwards. I ordered the design service from Oneida, and then got a rebate when I ordered the fittings. I bought the 2 foot and 5 foot snap lock 26 guage pipe from the borg.

Oneida was great to deal with.

I'll cast a vote for Spiral Mfg. The spiral (24 gauge) and fittings (20 gauge) ended up being less money then the snap lock from Onieda. Shipping was much less then I thought. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I agree Chris comments about Sprial Mfg. I paid about I think 1.90\ft. shipped. If you go with sprial pipe you'll need the connectors. I bought my fittings again from Kencraft.

Spiral MFG will have the best prices from my research, and by a bunch. The manufacturer the stuff, they don't buy and resell. In fact I know that some of the other vendors mentioned above purchase their stock from Spiral so I go to the source.
