    Walnut Bowl

Here's a photo of one of my latest. This is a 12"+ walnut bowl with
great figure and a carved rim. One of a small series of bowls with
    carving. Finally some sun today!

Whata Rim! I like it Phil. The wood ain’t too shabby either. How about a shot at the foot? I like the way the bead stands on it's own against the carving, good job.

Hmm, cracks and lots of end grain tear-out, Phil, I bet those logs give a lot of pleasure as you enjoy the peace and quiet of nature on that hillside from that deck. Now, let's get to the bowl. Very nice indeed!! I love the form and the rim treatment. Did you use the indexer on the rim? Beautiful wood as well. Good one!!

Wow! Love the form and finish on that, Phil. The carving really sets it off beautifully! Nice job.

    Thanks!

Thanks Creekers, I appreciate your kind comments. Chris, I didn't use
the index. I put the tool rest level with the middle of the bowl and used
a pencil on the rest to mark guide lines on the rim to help with pushing
the V-gouge. I do enjoy th deck but what you're not seeing is the large
clear water lake that's just twenty feet off the deck to the right. The ice
is beginning to disappear today. Must be mud season soon.

Had to escape! 16” of snow with more on the way, left Friday. It was 76 degrees last night at the PHX airport. Hopefully I will not have to plow when I return. Thanks for the extra views, that is a nice piece of walnut. George
