    Osage Orange Bowl

A freind gave me a "piece of box elder"... knarly old piece of firewood. Turned out to be osage orange. I made two of these and gave one to Dad...When I was younger, I spent many days during the winter cleaning up the miles of osage orange fence rows on his farm.

6 X 4" , finished with a little bit of oil and lightly buffed. They are pretty rudimentary but I like them.

    Thanks for looking

That's a beauty. I like the way you incorporated the natural cracking in the wood into the design of the bowl. Very nice!

Very cool. Looks like a spider in its web.

I better not let my son see this.

I like them too ... Nice form and I like the small foot rather than using a small flat spot.

Tom; The form is simple and elegant and really brings your focus the character of the wood. Good Job

Love how the cracked area turns a simple bowl into a piece of artwork! I agree with Gary - looks like a spider & web!

Those bowls sure look nice to me... I like the cracking in it! As long as a bowl is not meant to hold soup I like bowls to have the natural character of wood!
I like the shape of these... you did a good job!
