    Plans for a Pergola

Has anyone seen plans for a pergola on the net?
How big of a board could I use to span 15 feet?
If I have this correct, I am looking for an open patio cover, I think.

    Thank you for you assistance

  2. Norm has a nice plan. Here is the site: http://www.newyankee.com/getproduct3.cgi?702

I built a pergola using these plans but made mine bigger. My total dimensions are 10' high, 14'deep and 20'wide. I also put 1" x 6" boards on the top that were tilted at 45* angle and spaced about 6" apart. This gave me a lot more shade (about 85%).

Also, look at Dan Moran's post http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=58063

    i recently built one,---

if you want i could email you the plan--- er, um, i mean my notes....

you want to span 15' -- so you need to consider your overhangs and adjust length accordingly...

as for board size: on the one i just built-- which was 16'x 8' i used 2x8 for the girders and 2x6 for the crossers..

search the general WW & powertools forum -- my thread was "so i built a pergola"
