    25' Drum sander??

I could have been dreaming, but I thought I saw a 25" closed end drum sander, I believe by PerformaX, in a storage unit with a bunch of other WWing stuff and have not been able to Google any info on it or even find it listed on the Performax site. Is there such a beast and what are any opinions of it and possible value for one in good shape. Thanks, John.

Check out the links below. As I said, I have a 25x2 and it is nice, but I paid $800 plus about $100 for parts to fix it. It cost $3700 new - way overpriced IMHO. I would think that the one you are looking at would be worth no more than $800 (my 40% rule for used tools). One nice thing, most of the bearings oare off the shelf items.

    John,

I have the 25" dual drum performax supermax pro and it is a fine piece of equipment. I talked to the salesman at the woodworking show in April and he gave me a price list. The retail on my machine, which they still produce, was over $3000!! There has been a change in ownership of the company (see other threads on this site for more info).

Woodmaster has a 26" for $2,199...still not "cheap" but not too bad for a machine like this. I have been using a Woodmaster for about ten years now and have nothing but good things to say about it.

PS: There seems to be "one of those things" between Woodmaster and Performax owners that I hope we can stay out of. So let me just say that I would never "knock" the Performax machines having never owned one and, therefore having no basis on which to comment about them...
