    crotch sweetgum platter

I guess you would call this a platter or slash bowl. Ever what it is I thought it had some nice figure in it. About 12'' wide , antique oil finish

That is one of the most beautiful pieces of crotch wood that I've seen! It has a lot of pattern and some beautiful color! I like how that curly part is caught right in the center of the platter. The textured rim adds a really nice touch! It is really a fine piece of work!

Wow, beautiful piece Mike. I like the proportions of both the base and the separate areas 'on top'. Great job with a great piece of wood.

    That looks fantastic.

What is the pattern in the ring around the platter? Do you have a closeup picture of that?

    Dean,
The texturing was done with a sorby texturing tool. It just makes a random pattern. Thanks for the comments guys
