Smile Box Elder Burl Hollow Form

Hey I actually turned something other than a pen ... lol

My wife had to work tonight and my daughter went to the fireworks so I was sitting alone being bored and decided its been a while since I have turned a hollow form so out to the shop I went.

I mounted the blank at 9:00 and was taking pics by 10:00. Its not my prettiest HF, I like the form but the opening is a little large, but I guess its not to bad for an hours worth of playing.

Box Elder Burl 6 inches tall. Sanded to 2000 and finished with CA and BLO, White Diamond and carnauba wax

    Comments/Critiques always appreciated.

    Happy Turning,
    Shane Whitlock

Shane that is beautiful. I really like the wood and your form. I like larger openings so it looks good to me.

Beautiful HF Shane! Love the wood - looks like it is moving in all sorts of directions! I like the shape of your HF and find the opening fits the form well. Very nice work!

    Show-off.

That's beautiful, Shane--even if it did only amount to an hour's work!

In the morning I am off to Denver for the next 10 days so I wanted to make a quick comment and say Thanks for your comments

I am going to have withdrawls not being able to visit this site while I am gone but I am sure I will have lots of great posts and turnings to look at when I get back.

Very nice piece. I wish I could accomplish something like that in a day much less an hour. I really like the box elder I've seen on the site, gotta get me some of that.
