    "Weekend Doin's"

    Friday July 13th, 2007

    GOOD FRIDAY MORNING "CREEKERS".

Well, it's been one heck of a week. Weather has been near perfect. If you like mid 70's, very low humidity, clear blue skies and no rain. And this is in JULY!!!! I really like it, except for one thing. Lack of rain. I'm still dragging the hose all over the yard trying to keep the grass reasonably moist so it doesn't brown out. Oh yeah, and still trying to get at least two more moles. I've already gotten three big ones.

LOML, her sister, my mom and another lady are heading north to Lac du Flambeau to see how their luck is at a casino there. Hope they hit something big for a change.

Not sure what I'm going to be doing. Maybe some golf and the Chicagoland race on Sunday. And maybe clean the shop.

What's happening in your neck of the woods??? Good, bad or ugly, let us know what's on your agenda for the weekend. Inquiring minds [and mine] want to know.

Whatever it may be, make it enjoyable and, of course, make it safe.

This is Karl.............in the Dells.............looking down...........shaking his head...........wondering if Al took the wrong exit.............on his way........to help clean??????

    'Morning!

Going to meet Mike Morgan and get a couple hundred bf of cherry. Now...anyone know what I can build with a couple hundred bf of cherry?

After that, probably clean the shop (gotta make room for the wood) and tinker some. Have an uncle coming to visit, so I'll probably go out to eat one night.

    Maybe hike a little Sunday.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hello,
God willing and the river don't rise - the weekend will consist of two things.
Putting a serious dent in the finishing off of the basment, but only after an early rise (3:00am) service call.
If the 3:00am goes for the planned 5 min, then I'm gold for the rest of the weekend.

If it all goes sour,,,,well,, I have a full weekend of overtime I guess.

FWIW - I have to move the transaction log of a 40 GB database from one logical drive of a SQL server to another. It should only take a few min to dettach then reattach the database.
It's an old box though. Backup and restore takes ~ 3 hours.

Headed North. Should be gone already.
Whole fam damily is desending on me tomorrow. Will be a real test of the new septic pipes.

Cabinet doors and drawer fronts for me. I just have to doublecheck the measurements and I'm ready to go on them. I also need to mow the lawn, a rarity this summer since it has been so dry. Not sure what else is going on this weekend yet.

Sorry Karl, got to Des Moines and asked how far to the Dells and they just laughed at me, evidently your not in Iowa huh?

Got to get the back wheels off the truck to do brakes this weekend, I really want to talk to the idiot who thought aluminum wheels and steel hubs was a good idea, took me almost a full Saturday to get the front ones off and the backs are stuck on too....grrrrr

I am hoping to get a bit more done on the never ending storage cabinet project, almost looks like it just needs to be assembled now, but considering the way its been going, something will not work.

Also looking for a car port/shelter to put the new boat in when it finally gets here.
Might be a while till I can try and get to Karls place, I think he's pretty close to the Black Hills and I've been meaning to try and get out there again...

Al....who's not really good at directions according to Beasty.

The entire Fitzgerald clan is descending upon central Illinois for a 5 generation gathering and photos. Will Illinois ever be the same?

    Taking a Class

On Saturday I'm going back to the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking to take a class on rehabbing, tuning, sharpening hand planes. I have a Hock blade and cap iron waiting at the Woodcraft store where the school is located for my FIL's Stanley #4 which needs some work.

Not sure what the wife has scheduled for me on Sunday.

    Bob,
It's an annual get-together that Bill holds at his shop. This is the sixth or seventh year for it, I think.

Jealous of your weather there, Karl. We are in the mid 90's with heat index over 100. Yuck. Had to mow during the week so at least I don't have to do it on my weekend! Prob still have to do the evil that is weedeating however. I am hoping my new router table top (along with some misc. items) I purchased this week from Hartville arrives today. Will work to making a base for it and possibly hinging it to my work bench so it can swing down and out of the way. I love new toys.

What is the Chicagoland race? Foot race or mechanized vehicle? My girlfriend is running tmw morning at NASA for their annual fun run. I sweat just watching.

We're here in Sin City putting together the booth for AWFS - I had a wonderful time on Wednesday afternoon laying 1500 square feet of rubber matting.

It's HOT here - 107 yesterday, maybe 108 today. I'm laying out today, since there are now 8 guys lifting and moving heavy things. I'm staying in and chilling today. I'm anticipating meeting Frank Kobilsek tomorrow or Sunday and several fellow Creekers next week. Are we having fun yet?

    Hi Jim,

I wish I was going, I have been to Bill's before he moved from Easton and Reading. One of my best friends from Montreal will be there, Pierre Plamondon.

I can't travel with my current hip condition and pending surgery. Jim I have always wanted to meet you, maybe next year.

    have a super time!
    Take care,
    Jim
