Homegrown Miter Miter Qucik Release Vise

I have wanted a horizontal vise for my Makita 1013 slider for some time. $60-$80 +shp. I also wanted to try making a quick release from a hex nut.
This thing is built from my scrap pile and whatever I had lying around except for the 5/8 all-thread, nut and spring which I got at HD.
Not pretty but it works well.

Are the threads part of the release lever and the spring is in the back?
Makita can be the pits as far as necessary accessories go. Had to buy my dust chute for my planer separately too. Annoying, like earphones on a plane. If they just charged a little more with the original price you wouldn't even notice. I'm sure it ticks a lot of customers off, like me.

Yes, the threads are part of the quick release. however, it's not sloppy when you use the quick release. It's a real solid piece of equipment.
