Article on building a Dominoed rocker published

The first of two articles on building the Domino version of my rocker is published in the current (August/September, '07) issue of the British magazine Router & Power Woodworking. I believe, but am not certain, that it is also in the current issue of the American counterpart, American Router & Power Woodworking.

I am posting the plans and instructions for this rocker, and will post photos of the building process in following posts. If you copy the plan pdfs to a CD, you can get a plan printer to print the plans at full size on A0 paper; but you will need to check that the printouts are the correct size by measuring the scale bars. The dimensions are given in millimetres, since the Domino has metric calibration.

What do you estimate as the avg build time for the project? I was going to build a couple Zigzag chairs, but yours looks alot nicer (and more comfortable as well)!

I am afraid I didn't record the build time for this rocker, but I would guess somewhere around 80 hours, but this is dependent upon how much effort you put in for sculpting and rounding the rocker parts by hand. There is definitely far more time required to build this rocker than for my zigzag rocker, which has unrounded parts, see http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthre...=Zigzag+rocker ; incidentally an article on the zigzag rocker is due to be published shortly in Wood Magazine. The relative aesthetic merits of the two rockers is a matter of personal taste, but as far as comfort is concerned, both chairs are very comfortable to sit in, which can't really be said for rockers with solid wooden seats.
