Any opinions on Freud SD508 Super Dado

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this blade? I'm in the market for a dado blade so I figured the best place to get an awnser is SMC.

I have the cheap ($99) freud dado blade and it is good so I imagine the 508 is very good.

I've had it for a couple of years now.

    LOVE IT!

Did not need a 6" set.

The SD508 is a highly respected dado set and always has ratings at or almost at the top of the pile.

Have it. Love it. It is everything the reviews say. Cuts clean, flat, no question this was the right stack for me.

I had a cheap ($100) dado set that I returned and then purchased the 508. What a great set of blades! Haven't looked at anything else since.

I bought an SD508 sometime in the last year, and have only used it once, but it's a good tool, easy to set up and makes a clean cross-grain cut. I'm a little puzzled about the comments regarding "cheap $99 dados", because I don't recall paying much more than that (maybe $130) for the 508.

My older dado, which is semi-retired, is a 25 year old Craftsman wobble-plate which cuts fine with the grain, but tears out on cross grain. To do it justice, I don't remember ever having it professionally sharpened, and I have a sentimental fondness for it.

I did get the SD508 for $149 with a 25% off coupon from Rockler. Retails around $200, somebody's got to pay for all that carbide .

Bill, you can't go wrong with the 508. It'll cut flat & clean dados all day long.

It's my first dado blade and there has never been a tearout. Completely flat bottom. I marked the thicknesses on each blade with a permanent marker. Love it!
