Top-O-The-Mornin' to ya.
20 Aug 2007
I hope this finds everyong doing well and are weathering the heat (if you are geographically located in any of the "warm" areas of the globe).
There's been zero shop time for me due to the day-job taking at least 60 hours a week and family taking the rest of the time. The LOML has had a death in the family and I've been franticly searching the internet for the cheapest tickets for flights as the funeral will be this Wednesday and we don't have time to get a car serviced, repaired, and made "travel ready" in time to make the 9.5 hour trip. So flying is our best choice....well, not financially, but with such short time it will have to be a good choice. I also found out that airlines do not do the "bereavement pricing" any more and haven't for sometime. Real shame in my book, but I guess that people abused it (kinda like sick leave at work) and they took it away. Oh well.
Been trying to find a 2' by 8' vacuum bag to do this blased veneer on the curved kitchen table. Aren't y'all tired of hearing me talk about this yet?? Joe Woodworker doesn't have any and won't be getting any until "maybe" October and I'm not sure about the hookups for bags coming from Quality-Vak, and Vacuum Pressing Systems are priced to high to even come close to competing with the other 2. Any ideas? Anyone got a vacuum bag that I can borrow for 2 uses on a 16" radius piece that is 4" wide? The curve is 180º and length of the curve is about 49". I can tell you that a 4' by 4' vacuum bag will not do the trick. Even if someone out there has a "laminating bag" that is 12-20" wide by at least 8feet long, I'd love to talk with you about using your vac-bag for making 2 pressings with it.
I ask this because I've lent out a few things to fellow WW'ers in the past, 1 as far away as Washington state, with very good success and reliability. So....why not ask the crew here? Right?
This will be an extremely busy week this week. The LOML and LOML Jr will be out of state for the family funeral until next week. I'll have the 3 boys to tend to as well as some very stressful situations at work, and the list goes on from there. It's as if "everything" in the world either starts or takes place "this week". Sheesh!!!!!
Any way......What did YOU do this weekend???
Best of weeks to you all.!!
