    First two under my belt

So I have been bitten by the turning bug bad. These are my first two bowls so please be gentle. I have no idea what type of wood this is as it has been sitting in my wood pile for a number of years now. I have 5 more bowls drying that I turned in the last week (3 poplar 2 ash). so that brings a grand total of seven bowls in 5 days, and I have only had the lathe for 2 weeks, so yes I have been bitten.

They are both 6" across and one is 3" tall and the other one is 3-1/2"tall

I also wanted to mention that they came from the same log but somehow they have a different color. I'm not sure how it happened as I finished them both the same.

Nice looking bowls. I like the one on the left (with the lines) best of the two. Looks like cherry to me, but what do I know I don't get much cherry in the desert.

I was going to say cherry also.

Very nice. Especially for the first two...

Nice job on your first bowls. Make sure you save them so in a year you can look back and see where you started from.

Nice couple of bowls Jonathan. I'll put in another vote for cherry. And don't lose the pictures of those either - Andy will give you extra credit down the road when you're the SMC Turner Interview.
