    When did you join: Jan. 2005

    How did you hear of site: Internet search.

    What do you enjoy about site: Lots of great ideas and knowledge from others.

    Make, model, year of your lathe:
    I have two:
    First one is a homemade lathe that I've had for years:

    Second lathe I got back in April this year: It is a 1927 Oliver #66.

    Capacity is 16" x 48" on the homemade lathe and 30" x 96" (48" dia. x24" long in the gap) on the Oliver #66 lathe. I tore the Oliver down and cleaned repainted it all. Currently changing motor out to a 7 1/2hp with a VFD driver for infinite variable speed.

    How did you find out about this site?
    I can't recall!
    What do you enjoy the most about SMC?
    The willingness of all members in helping with questions etc., and the once a year pen swap. Lots of fun to meet new turners.
    What is the make, model and year of your lathe?
    It's a Oneway 1224 + a 24" extension (not installed as yet) that I purchased very slightly used in Dec. '09.
    What is your lathe's capacity?
    As the model says 12" & 24" + ext = 48" exaggerated somewhat.

    It feels really great to sell a pen;
    It feels even greater to give one to a friend!

    If your presence doesn't make an impact;
    Your absence won't make a difference!

    When did you joint Sawmill Creek?
    Six months ago.

    How did you find out about this site?
    Went on an Internet search trying to help my buddy resolve his Barracuda Chuck problems, and stumbled onto SMC.

    What do you enjoy the most about SMC?
    This is very much like my woodturners group, except on-line and I don't have to wait weeks for the next meeting. So I come here for the same reasons: Looking for inspiration, information, and resources. Sometimes I just need to "knock ideas around" as I ponder my next project or I'm facing a decision, and the feedback is usually immediate.

    What is the make, model and year of your lathe?
    Late model Jet 1442, but I sometimes use my neighbor's Jet 1642. I like the pivoting headstock on the 1442, but the larger lathe has a slower lower end, so it's useful when I turn huge, irregular.

    What is your lathe's capacity?

    14" in the standard mode, but if I pivot the head I could probably turn a 36" platter. Spindle capacity is 42".
