ran out of dye, will this work?

I ran out of dye today in the middle of dying a bookcase. I was using Solar-Lux NGR Jet black dye and have no convenient way to get more and I really want to get this done asap. I came up with the idea to dissolve Rit dye in acetone or alcohol to make my own dye. Dose anyone think that this will work?

Not a good idea. Why? The Solar Lux is a quite light fast (as dye goes) and the RIT is not (clothes see MUCH less sunlight than furniture and are expected not to hold up nearly as long as furniture.) Consequently, shifting to the RIT is likely to mean two toned furniture in a year or so, even if you were able to get the color match. (There are about as many shades of black as of white.) Switching dye in mid-project is pretty much never a good idea, even if it is from one wood dye to another.
