Thread: Need armoire plans

    Need armoire plans

Our master bedroom has limited closet space. I would like to make an armoire that is deep enough to hang suits, shirts, etc. (My wife has taken over most of our present closet space, and I need someplace to hang my stuff.) I don't really need any drawer space but I might want to add some drawers just for versatility.

Does anyone have any plans? (In Sketchup if possible.)

I constructed a slightly modified version of Thos Moser's armoire a few years ago. (there is a thread here at SMC) I used the drawings in his book, Measured Drawings for American Furniture (or something close to that title...I'm away from my office right now) for this project. (And have used a number of other designs from the same book for projects)

    Jim,

Thank you. I forgot that I have that book. I have looked at it and I have a few questions.

The inside depth is less than 19". Did you find that that was deep enough to hang suits and shirts? I know that it could be made deeper, but I would not want to make it too deep.

Do you have any comments about the Moser design?

    Hi Ralph

I have completed that one recently, It is made of knots pine.
There are only shelves inside but you could easily modify it so you can hang clothes

if you go on my web page and and scroll down to that armoire you can load the plan in sketchup. Feel free to use it.
