    Arrggh! Twisted

    I brought this on myself.

I was trying to get a better level (without brush strokes) when putting down shellac, so I cut it with denatured alcohol as is recommended.

Then I kept putting it down until the board surface wouldn't take any more, much like you would with oil. That was my mistake. Combined with the cooler than usual temperatures meant it took forever for the board to dry.

End result: a 5x28" drilled and dry-fitted highly figured (one of my nicest boards) tiger maple drawer front now shaped like a twizzler.

    *grumble*

    Been there, done that.
Glass half full: This is the only time you will ever make this mistake.
Glass half empty: There are plenty of finishing mistakes to go.
I learn a new one with every project, perhaps I'm a little slow...

If it is to be an applied drawer front I might try and grdaully un-twist it with weight, pressure etc. If you can get it flat perhaps attaching it to the drawer will hold it.

What do you have to loose in trying.

Sorry about the situation though - we have all been there to one degree or another.

Seen the Furniture Guys do this, but haven't tried it myself .... yet.

Put warped wood on the wet lawn, and cover with a tarp with weights on it to straighten it out.
