    Cutting boards

These are some cutting boards I made for Christmas presents. Woods include walnut, cherry, maple and little poplar and white oak. I used Titebond II glue (blue label) and put biscuits when gluing end grain.

excellent work. I look forward to developing some cutting boards myself for christmas gifts. Were you able to cut the wood of uniform length for each, or did you have to do some heavy sanding (or planing) to get a smooth surface?

What did you seal them with?

Wow, those make me dizzy just looking at em. They look great, and will be good presents. I'm hoping to make some cutting boards this Christmas also.

Cool stuff. Tell us how you went about the process. I'm guessing you glued a bunch of sticks together and then cut them at angles and reglued?
    Wood: a fickle medium....

Did you know SMC is user supported? Please help.

I glued up the pieces and then cut on an angle or straight across, depending on design. Then I added the the outer edge when needed. Between cuttings, I ran then through my Performax to even them out pretty close to flat. I started with 1-1/8" pieces to end up with about 1" thick boards. Then I put on butcher block oil from Rockler. Could not find mineral oil at the drug store without any added perfume.
