    Extreme Birdhouses

Hi everyone , Here is another one of my Extreme Birdhouses

It is 9 ft wide and over 8 ft high and made of 150 yr old reclaimed barn wood.
This bird mansion has 13 roofs, 32 dormers, fly through tunnel and over 100 apartments.

Hmm...I can just picture a few of the more bird formal species dressing up as Mounties and standing guard at the front portico of that one! LOL

Very nice, John...incredible piece as usual!

John - how much time would you have into something like that? It's amazing....

    Thank you Jim and Lewis
This house took me about 6 weeks to build over a 2 year period.
I usually have an idea about what i am building but in this case i just designed as i went along.
It cost about $ 100.00 to build. nails and paint.

John, that isn't a Greater Swiss Mountain dog in the background is it? I've got a 6mo old puppy.

John, that thing is as big as some peoples house....

That is I would say one hell of a bird house and if I was a bird I would really be prod to live in it.

Just outstanding as are all of your houses.

    John,
It looks like you have way too much time on your hands. Nice work.

Picture #2 shows a closeup of your latest birdhouse. It looks remarkably like the distant one to the left in the same picture. Quite a hefty supoort post! Or am I missing something. Regardless, one fine complex for our feathered friends. I cannot determine a scale but the holes seem quite small. Purple martins like communal quarters; what species are you targeting?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments .

    Chris
This birdhouse is designed more for sparrows and swallows because of its size.
The holes are 1 1/3" and the birds will fill this thing pretty fast.
I will be looking to mount this on a minimum of a 24" diameter post.

The birdhouse in the backround is much smaller . it,s about 30" x 26"
