Turning a handle for a bread knife

Does anyone have directions on how to turn a handle for a bread knife? Basically, I need to know what size drill bit, how deep to drill the hole, whether to turn between centers or to chuck it.

    Any info will help,

    JeffK.

Need more info on the knife tang and type of handle you want. If you are just going to drill a hole and stick in a flat tang and epoxy it in place, then the hole should only be as deep as the tang is long and as wide as the tang. You will probably want to use a ferule over the blade end of the handle to hide the joint. As for method of turning I would favor turning between centers.
What you do today determines what you can do tomorrow.

I finally had the chance to turn a bread knife. After some measuring, I used a 3/16" drill bit (may still be a tad small had to drill next to the original hole) to a depth of 2 3/8". Turned great finished and glued the tang in. Here's the results.
