Did that price include the router degree setup as well? If I'm correct, you move the router incrimentally towards the tail stock as well don't you? I've been wanting to do the spiral effect since the first time I saw one. I really like your work on that piece, good job.

    Post Bill,

not to get off the topic but, I feel like an idiot now- "ornament" - Is a candle holder acceptable, I can whip up an ornament but I wanted to do something special since it's my first time ~ it falls in line with the holiday , if it's not acceptable I'll make the ornament , I don't want to ruffle any feathers on here, or upset the administrators.
As far as the router setup being included- no, I constructed that design. i actually scraped the angled housing for the router and have a new housing that i only use the Oliver carriage- much, much, less a pain to align to the center. to start I lock in at 0 and plunge the first hole moving the index wheel every 5 degrees , locked it in, after each lock in i run the router in using the carriage , depth was set for that as well- I only went in a little over half the diameter, then back it out, move the index wheel another 5 degrees and move the router down in 1/8" increments every time, but only when I move the index wheel ` I have got myself in a process and don't deviate from that ` hence- you need some fire starter? -LOL, I learn quickly. I did 4 of them at 45 degree marks, I was going to sand the inside of the leave smooth but i like the tiny step effect it gets on the inside of the helical twist. need any help , let me know~

    Brian:

What is that you made? Looks more like a goblet than an ornament.

    It does look really nice.

    Post Greg,

    Hi,
that is a 3" "large" candle holder. The 3" candle is going with it, it is in glass and drops write in the shell ,even with the top rim, and it can be replaced with any standard 3" candle- I am sending Earl a pine scented candle, holiday oriented.

    Hi Brian,
I think your candle holder - ornament, is one fine ornament .
What makes an item an ornament. Something that is classic and ornate.
Several years back, a very fancy object was placed on the front of the automobile and was called a hood ornament.

    Yes ,
I just wasn't sure- i see all these tree ornaments on here and very well done, I just thought I made a huge mistake, as far as the hood ornament,
I have one of those on my Mercedes - thanks Bill,

Well heres mine for Curt, took a bit longer because the LOML had a list for me to do over the weekend but managed to get it done today.

The globe is from Regal Yew and the finials/icikle are ancient bog oak, measures 2" x 6 1/2".
