    A GOOD time in shop.

My son JJ came out to help ol' dad today. Had him start off sanding some blocks of curly maple I'm making a little "trophy" out of for his basketball coaches. (All 1st yr players and they WON a game! ) Then I let him have some fun with my LN rabbet block plane. Put a blanket underneath in case it slips, and let him go to town on a piece of cherry. He didn't do bad for a first time. Maybe tomorrow he can practice some more as they have no school.

Joe, I truly understand the feeling. Spending time with your children doing something you both enjoy is really one of life's true pleasures. I hope this is repeated in your shop many more times in the future.

    Joe,

No fair! You've got an apprentice and all I have is a shop dog.

Seriously, it looks like both son and father had fun this afternoon.

    Joe,

Looks to me like a bigger shop is going to be in order so JJ will have room to work on his projects while you are messing around with yours. It is truly a blessing when your children take an interest in your activities. Enjoy it while you can.

It is so much fun when they come out and spend time with you doing something you enjoy. Let's hope he remains interested so you can have many more wonderful days like this one!
