    hot dogs

I would like to try one of the hot attachments Lie Nielsen has for there planes. But I am to cheap to buy one. My question is can anyone share with me how this hot dog is held on to the plane? My thought is a socket set screw. Would anyone care to comment? Thanks John

The #9 uses a small set screw. I don't know about the #62, but a quick email to LN would get an answer, usually the next day.

I came home and had to try to make one. It worked great. I found I did not need anything to hold it in place. Best $50.00 I never spent. John

Here are a couple of photos of the hot dog I made. As of right now I have nothing holding it on other than friction. It works great now. I added the cherry to the top of the plane after I got it. Thanks for asking. John

I think your picture in post #8 is about as big as it gets on SMC. The picture download tool has some information on the size and pixel limitation.

John, the picture size is related to file size and resolution. I use the “Save for web” feature in Adobe Photoshop for my pics. There are free programs out there that do pretty much the same thing as Adobe.
I think the file size limit at SMC is around 105 kbytes.

Thanks for the bigger picture. Beautiful tool!

What is the aim of this attachment? Is it to improve the grip?

It improves control of the plane, by improving the ability to grip the plane.

    John.
Nice work. I have the "factory" version, but I like yours better.

I used the plane with the hot dog and the handle LN supplied today. Man what a difference. I truly recomend the hot dog. It is comfortable and I had a much better feel for the work being done. Thanks for listening. John
