    Solvent Poly over Water Poly?

I used some water based poly on a project because I wanted to tint the varnish and had some water soluble dye. The next coat will be clear.

It was first time I have used water based, and don't like it. Can I put solvent based poly over it, or should I stick to the water based?

If you hate the water based, my suggestion is to use it up and be done with it.

    Hello,
Yes, oil based (solvent based) will go over the water soluble product.
Allow 72 hours - longer would be better - for the water-poly to cure.

Aqueous (waterborne) poly dries fast/cures slow.
Oil based (solvent) dries slow/cures fast.
