    Band Saw Problems

I have a jet 14 inch band saw. The tracking arm is bent so that the tracking knob must be turned almost completely in to get the blade on the crown.

Is this a common problem and what is the cause of it. How can I prevent this from happening with the replacement parts that I will install.

The wheels are not coplanar with the lower in farther than the upper so that when the blade is on the crown of the upper wheel it is about 1/4" more toward the outside of the lower wheel. Can any washers or shims be used to move the lower wheel out.

    Thank you for any answers.

Sure. If there is room one can add washers to make the wheels coplaner. I had an early import that I did this with. It still didn't make the blade ride at th same point on both wheels, but I tuned up the saw as best I could and it worked beautifully for quite a few years. Best of luck.
What you do today determines what you can do tomorrow.

I installed the tensioning assembly and added some washers to the lower wheel.
Still not coplanar, but blade rides closer to same place on upper and lower wheels.

I still do not know what can be done to prevent the new tracking arm from bending. I thought about loosening the tracking knob when I release the tension after each use. Will this help?
