homemade mobile base for unisaw?

I'm at the point in building my new workshop that I need to concern myself with mobility of my 1947 Unisaw. I've ordered some of the locking casters (3") from Hartville and want to construct my own base. Is this reasonable? After all, I'm a woodworker, and now retired, so making things and saving money are now more possible and necessary.
If it is possible, then advice on design would be appreciated. I'm not a welder. At least, I don't think I am, as I've never tried it.

.....check out Wood Magazine's mobile tool base (originally in nov.'97 issue, reprinted since; there are pix of it on their site): dirt cheap: recycling 1 and 1/2 right angle bed frame iron as the core load carrying element, homemade wood lever with an offset cam to raise/lower panels with the wheels, old door hinges..... I used the basic plan, just beefing up for heavy duty applications such as cabinet saw (3 & 1/2" wheels, 1" wood, bigger lag bolt for the offset cam); didn't worry about the TS side table having an outrigger base; use "swivel" type castor wheels on all four wheels for manoverability.... the only "head-scratching" part is figuring out at what height on vertical rear panel to attach the panels with the wheels ....... I've also seen the plan on some woodworking sites

torsion box base with 1" MDF top - low profile casters but below the saw so overall height is up about 4 1/2" (I am 6'2" and was tired of bending over the saw)
