Hi Kevin. Welcome to the creek.

That's a fine looking first box. I think you'll find that nobody around here will laugh at anything you post. Everyone has to start somewhere. The fact that your first box is still in one piece puts it several steps above my first attempt at one. Make sure you save this one so in a few months you can look back and see how you have progressed.

What is sticking out of the bottom half? Did you inset a bottle into the wood?

Keep posting pictures, we like pictures.

That's one more box than I have to my credit. Welcome to the creek, and don't ever be shy.

It is five inches tall and 2 and a quarter inches in diameter at the widest point of the base. sticking from the top of the base is a plastic bottle mold before inflated.

Welcome, Kevin. Who's laughing? Like Dan, that's one more box than I have to my credit. What kind of wood is it?

Welcome! I just joined a couple months ago, and I already have lots of good friends with lots of good (and sometime sarcastic...) advice. Heck, I participated in the ornament exchange, and expecting a nice ornament from Mr. Peacock (see above) I got a nice ornament and and really nice bowl! Turners are some of the nicest people around!

P.S. I say this all the time- posting pictures will make most folks here really happy.
