    Dart board cabinet help

I am making a dart board cabinet for a close friend from some clear cherry and walnut. She has an electronic board that uses darts with plastic tips. I have a handle on everything except this: What material can I use for the backstop for a missed throw? I think regular cork would be to hard to let the plastic tip stick. She has this very soft, white foam there now and they stick just fine but it is far from the look I want with the BLO over beautiful cherry.

    Thoughts????

    Thanks for your help... Ken
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

Why does a missed-throw dart have to stick? If it missed the scoring area, it doesn't matter where it went. Let it just fall to the floor.

You could use a 1/4" foam rubber under cloth, or, just get, perhaps, a pressure sensitive adhesive backed black foam rubber.

EDIT: and just like Jamie says, just let it fall. Those tips are cheap and easily replaceable (and from what I just read, meant to be replaced)

    Ken -

Mine are steel darts, but I bought some burlap fabric at the local fabric store (Joann Fabrics). It comes in quite a few colors and has an open weave so the dart tips can pass through easily. Maybe it will work with the plastic tips too. It only cost about $3.00.

I used 1/2" homosote material (too hard for the plastic tips) and wrapped the edges with some spare aluminum channel I had laying around. Maybe you could do something similar with that white foam.

    Hope this helps!

    Have you tried cork tiles?
