    Hackberry vase

This is a hackberry vase measures 9'' tall and 8 1/2'' wide. Wax finish. This is some good wood to turn, sands and turns like a dream. Comments welcome.

Very nice! I especially like the subtle slate blue undertones of spalted hackberry. I've seen a few pictures of spalted hackberry on another forum. That person was making lumber with an alaskan mill, but this seems like a more elegant use for it to be sure!!! I haven't seen any around here. Don't know if it grows in VA.

Excellent craftsmanship and beautiful work, as usual. The shape of that vase really brings out the figure of the wood. Nice photo, as well!

That's a great looking piece, Mike! Have done some stoppers and small bowls from spalted hack, and love the stuff.

Mike, that form is at perfection. I wonder what it would have looked like with an oil finish?
