Anybody had any experience with these? Just wondering. The prices are good!

Honestly, I have not heard of that brand. I've seen some small tools and tooling by that name sold by retailers as well as Grizzly, but no machines.

Steelex is a brandname owned by Woodstock International (ie. ShopFox), which essentially markets Grizzly machines through retail outlets (both Woodstock and Grizzly are run by CEO S. Balolia).

It appears that most of the Steelex machines are lower end machines, so this brandname probably is the "Value Line" of Shopfox equipment. The only bandsaw that they have listed (ST1000 14") looks identical to the $325 Grizzly G0580; there is a excellent possibility that these are the same machines with a different paint job.

Ditto Tim M. as he has nailed the case shut and the verdict is in! I actually looked at a Steelix floor mortiser when I dropped by one of the distributors down in Florida as they sell them on E-bay or at least did. No comparison with the Shop-fox floor model which is much better made.

It looks like a floor model, but just for one example... the hold-downs are what I would describe as well... "chincey" to be as diplomatic as possible.

    Sarge..
