    Uncle Remus syrup

I won an Uncle Remus syrup sign at a raffle, and I am wondering if there really was a brand of syrup by that name. I have searched the net and find dozens of places selling the sighns, but no mention of a real company, like Aunt Jemima has.

I am aware of the Uncle Remus stories, brer rabbit, the Song of the South movie, and all that. I am just curious whether there was a syrup, or if somebody just made up the sign.

There was such a syrup, made in the 1920s. I once saw an original can with intact paper label on it for sale at an antique sale. Much more expensive than the tin signs.

    Thank you Joe.

Now that I know it was real, I think I will keep the sign.

    Sorry Ken

That is an ad for the sign, not the syrup. I'm afraid we will have to demote you to an ordinary moderator.

This link was an auction for an original label from a can:

Finding a link for the actual syrup product information is difficult. The tin advert signs are everywhere.
