Power Feeder Application

Now that the cu300 smart is on the way, I would like to apply a power feed from a well located position or bracket.
Seems to me I saw a reference somewhere to a gizmo that is mounted on the side of the cast table and is hinged for quick removal. I think it was on a felder model, but maybe it could be adapted to the MM.
Your thoughts please.

I seem to recall some discussion while back along these lines, but not the details. The net advise, however, was that a power feeder really needs to have a very secure mount point and that means drilling and tapping the cast iron. Easy to do and a "best practice". For the CU300, and assuming you mean to use with the shaper function, there is plenty of real estate to pick a mounting point, IMHO, especially since many power feeders have adjustable reach. What you'll want to ponder with a combo is making it easily removable...ratchet handle bolts come to mind...

The felder versions have a bracket that bolts to the machine and when not in use you simply flip the PF over and it hangs under the table (extneded 36"+- forward or to the side). It is mounted on the outfeed side located centerally to use with the Shaper and Saw. If you are willing to drill your machine for the bolts and providing you have nothing in the way, you may be able to use one of theirs if MM does not have one. Take a look at the Felder site under Shop + Specials then machine accessories and you will find it to get some idea.

Erik from MM sent me brochures which arrived today.
I scanned this pic from the "Smart" line of machines.
Now all I have to do is find one.

Not quite. That looks like you have to remove and find a place to store in your shop. If you are like me, that could be a problem. The Felder version remains mounted and the PF folds away under the front of the table.

That's not a clear picture, but I believe it involves loosening a bolt or two and it swings down out of the way.
My saw will be here in a week or so and I'll look for threaded holes and ask MM in the meantime.

Good, sounds better. I am jealous of the delivery time. I ordered mine in July and it has made its way from container, rail and is now on its final leg to me on a truck. Was supposed to be here today, nope, going to be monday. You will get used to the "container" talk if you purchase more euro products.

The CU 300 Smart I found had been stored and never used. Essentially new as it still has the shipping grease on it. I am getting it from FELDER of all places. It was traded in there on a bigger unit. Sounds too good to be true. We all know what frequently happens when that's the case.
I'm keeping my remaining fingers crossed (just kidding!)
It's coming w/a 5.5' slider, but with the $ I saved, I'll soon get the 8' version.
All of the less expensive (sic) models have a slightly different slider design (less metal and smaller) and don't come in the longer versions.
