Craftsman Table Saw Repair

I have an older craftsman table saw and I discovered last night that the blade has some lateral movement( side to side) Is this a repairable item? Any experience with this problem would be appreciated.

how old is your saw?

mine is from the mid 60s and there are a couple of things ... bad bearings or the simple fix, there is a set screw at the end of the pulley that had worked loose on mine.

Saw is around mid 70's. Put new bearings in fou ryears ago.

on mine it is the set screw that holds the key for the arbor shaft. and yes it is right at the pulleys (may even hold them in too ?? )

my arbor shaft has a keyway slot, and a metal key, and this set screw presses the key into the slot to fix the arbor.

Its been awhile since it happened and like working on a car, I can 'feel' my way around, but cant always see what i am working on ...

My pulley set screw used to come loose. It caused slippage, but not the movement you described. You are right, it is a pain to work on. I ended up using a 3" holesaw and cutting an access hole near the pulley.

Fortunately I haven't had to do much to mine to get it running smoothly other than put a link belt and machined pulleys in. But I have collected some info.
