I got mine too last night. I sure wish I had it on Sunday. Drilling 1/4" holes in the side of my cast iron bandsaw table was not an easy feat with a partially dull bit -- I was mounting my Kreg fence to my bandsaw, which did not accept the Kreg Fence without slight modification to the table.

  2. Back oh maybe 30 some odd years ago I started in a little machine shop as a not terribly competent apprentice.

the crabby old guy who was teaching me how to be a machinist with a lathe thought I need to learn how to sharpen a drill. So he handed me a box of old drills, said something rather vulgar, and sent me to the pedestal grinder.

It took me all of less than an afternoon to figure it out and get it perfect. Maybe an hour maybe. If you are looking for deadly accuracy then you want a Black Diamond drill grinder. If you want sharp drills that work great just look at the end of a drill bit and think about duplicating that geometry by hand on a grinder.

It really is quite easy and by hand it's way faster than the gizmo.

The normal price is around $130 and the lowest price I've ever seen it is $99. Over the holidays, I was going to purchase it at Rockler with my 20% off any single itme coupon, which would have put it around $103 before taxes.

In my opinion $109 is still a good price.

In all honesty, I won't use mine a ton since I don't drill metal too often or break bits too often, but when I do, it will be much more convenient having the 750x on hand than having to run to the hardware store to get a new bit.

  5. I just went to amazon and they are selling for $129.

    Larry,

The 750 can change angle from 115*-140* or anywhere in between. It also can handle up to 3/4"

    Cliff,

I would bet you I can sharpen 10 bits faster will the DD than you can by hand.
