    Small Cabinet Finally done

I'm relatively inexperienced, this is the first project I've even considered posting. Modest work compared to everything else I've seen here, but it turned out pretty well, for me anyway. I'm very open to your honest criticism as it will only make me better. It's Panga Panga (similar to Wenge) and zebra.

Special thanks to fellow Creeker Philip Duffy who did a masterful job turning the knobs for me. I posted the request on our turner's forum, and he offered to help immediately. Super nice guy to boot.

    Thanks for looking.

Very cool. I love the wood. You are being too humble - this a great piece. Nice work.

Nothing to be modest about. That turned out very well. I like the way the grain in the zebrawood flows across the drawer fronts.

Does panga panga splinter like wenge?
Where did I put that tape measure...

    Beautiful piece.

I think you should consider applying a finish to the inside of the side panels. At least at the shelf level, they are visible.

Out of curiousity, is it solid Zebra or a veneer? How thick?

    Dave,
Nothing modest about it. Be proud of your work, we seem to be.

You did a nice job & deserve an "atta-boy", especially if it's your design.

I generally dislike using this too-often used word but it seems appropriate here: AWESOME! The drawers are truly spectacular.

Thanks for all the kind words, and pointing out that the inside of the panels aren't finished. I honestly hadn't noticed that it was that easy to see. The zebra was resawn from an 8/4 piece and the final planed width came to 7/16. And yes, Panga splinters like crazy. It's beautiful wood but pretty nasty stuff. The splinters get infected very quickly if you don't get them out right away. The salesman at the store I purchased it from claims that long ago the natives used Panga berries to make poison arrowheads.

    Dave,

Outstanding job! Nice job on the flowing grain on the front.

My only suggestion would be to cover up the equipment. Either with another Zebra panel or maybe black speaker cloth. You can get an IR repeater to transmit the IR to the DVR and DVD. Then you won't need to worry about finishing the inside since you won't be able to see it.

Great looking piece. You're way too modest. I love the flowing wood stripes.
