    Email notification

    Hello,

I am unable to receive email from the Creek. My ISP is Optimum Online (Cablevision). That is a fairly large ISP. Do any of the other members belong to Optimum and are unable to receive email notifications? I get them from other forums I belong to.

Did you go into your User settings and set it to receive them?

Steve yes I have. Could you please try to send me an email. I saw in a previous post you had done that for another member and got the rejection notice. That would remove any doubt.

James, I had a similar problem with Mediacom in NC. A call to them resolved the problem.

I believe that this is the problem.

dynamic-IP hosts or generic/machine-generated hostnames - you must get a custom reverse-DNS name from your ISP for your host.

Perhaps the administrators can do something to fix this. It is limiting the members that can actually join the Sawmill Creek. The only way I was able to join was to call Keith by phone and ask to enable my account. As I could not receiver the email notification to verify my account. I wouldn't doubt that this has happened to hundreds of potential members. I will call Optimum and see if they can fix this for me but I don't think that it will help other Optimum subscribers.

Does anyone know what I need to tell my ISP. Do I just give them www.sawmillcreek.org. Or is there something more specific they need to know?

    Issue resolved

Just as an FYI. Today I received my first email alert that a thread I had subscribed to had a reply. I have done nothing on my end. I tried calling my isp about it but was on hold for far too long. So must have been something on your end that was changed. Therefore, thank you. I hope that it continues to work.
