    Koa pens

    A couple weeks ago I aquired some Koa from fellow creeker Kim Ford, thanks Kim. Here is the first two pens made from it, looking forward to making more. The blanks were cut from a 1" x 6" that had a knot giving it some nice curl. Classic Americana fountain pen with CA finish and a platinum slimline also with CA finish. Very nice to turn but a challenge to get a good CA finish on them.

    John;

    Nice job, I can't believe you were able to get those out of the 1X6. Boy that Koa is nice wood.

    Thanks should really go to Shaun Flemming, she gave me the wood when I visited her on Maui. Thanks Shaun!

    Keep it up John. . . .

    Koa is realy nice stuff. This is a tip to all photo takers jon. When I shjoot a pen, beacause they are so small, Relativly speaking, I try to get as close as I can and shoot the image diagonaly get as close as I can and give the focus thingy time to catch up.Still very nice pens.
