    Bathroom Remodel Update

    Here's an update on a very slow project. I'm remodeling my bathroom and fabricated the vanity and mirror surround. The surround is up, and the tiling has begun. The CAD pictures show the desired outcome.

    Also shown is an interior window that has a grill on each side made from poplar. The center diamond is silver leaf.

    That's really coming along wonderfully, Jeff. I really appreciate how you've brought this from concept through actually construction, too. It's helpful to understand just what goes into a 100% custom project like this.

    Woodworking Shop...now...Tiling Shop

    Thanks for the wonderful replies. Woodworking may take a back seat while tiling is happening. My brothers are doing the tiling, but they took over the shop for the wet saw. It's simply too cold outside.

    bathroom remodel update

    I agree with everthing that has been said, it is totally out of this world. If you are not in the construction business you should be. Barry Bruner

    Wet Bed of Cement

    [quote=fred woltersdorf;778501 Are you going over plaster?[/quote]

    Once again, thanks for the encouragement.

    Fred...the old tiles were affixed over a wet bed of cement that is about 1-1/2" thick. The cement was applied over wire lattice that was nailed to the wall studs. It is straight as an arrow (talk about old craftsmanship!). Needless to say, it would be very difficult to remove, however, it makes for a nice waterproof and solid base for the new tiles. The original tile job was circa 1952.

    I forgot to mark the location of the studs before tiling. The console cabinet was originally to be hung off the wall only. However, regardless of the wood studs, it's weight will likely force me to make some wood feet that I will probably turn on a lathe.

    By the way Yuengling beer is delicious! But, I must admit, I drink all brands as evident by my big belly.

    Update pic of the wall, and a pic of the vanity (minus the top) as it awaits for the tiling to be completed...
