    tote mount screw threads

I am redoing a #5 stanley plane. The machine screw that mounts the tote is corrodes badly. I went to the hardware store to buy one. The thread didn't match up with any of the available machine screws. What is the thread size and pitch for the screws that mount the handles on Stanley 5 - 8 planes? Thanks for your help. Ray Knight

A very odd size, not used anymore.

Stanley .com still carries those parts.

Ray the threads Stanley used are unique to Stanley tools. You will not find a replacement at any hardware store. I cant remember the pitch off of my head but it is an odd one. You can use a frog screw as a replacement just file it round like the original. Or you can send me a pm I have replacement parts available. -Clint
