Hopefully, one of you has encountered this.

I'm doing some cabinets with plyboo show faces. I'm using the caramelized version of the multi-ply horizontal grain plyboo.

It is not apparent before finishing, but after finishing with a polymerized oil finish, the two sides have quite different tones. Is this expected? If so, how would you tell before cutting and machining besides prefinishing?

Also, anyone have experience toning this material (if it comes to needing to)?

Thanks,

- Ed
